Assistance with Construction Logistics

Because the Alliance’s staff has lived and worked in the region for many years, we have established connections in the business community. We can connect you with local officials regarding permits, fees, and infrastructure requirements. We also have contacts with local utility companies, including electrical, water, sewer, natural gas, cable and phone, and much more.

State Legislators

The Alliance has excellent relationships with local legislators, mayors and borough officials. We can help you navigate the sometimes complicated network of local and state bureaucracy.

Local Contacts within Business Community

Because the Alliance utilizes the staff resources of the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce and the Berwick Industrial Development Association, the organization has well-established connections to the business community.

Funding Incentives

The Alliance has access to funding incentives and opportunities such as:

  • Greater Susquehanna Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ)

The KIZ program is intended to renew and focus our commitment to creating new technologies and new entrepreneurs – using our colleges and universities to deliver economic development opportunities throughout the Commonwealth. In recent years, Pennsylvania’s innovation measures, patents, and new company formation have trailed those of other states – the Keystone Innovation Zone program will use improvement in those measures as a benchmark of success. The Bloomsburg Regional Technology Center is part of the Greater Susquehanna Keystone Innovation Zone. Call 570-245-0096

  • Consulting from Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The Wilkes & Bucknell Small Business Development Centers offer free, confidential consulting with writing a business plan, marketing, managing business growth, and more. To schedule an appointment with an SBDC consultant, call 570-784-2522.

  • Low-interest loans from SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG)

SEDA-COG can provide partial financing for your business project, whether you’re expanding the company, or starting a new one. They offer several financing programs and, depending on the one that’s right for you, you may be eligible for as little as $2,500 or as much as $1,300,000. Loans are generally for asset acquisition – land, capital expenditures, machinery, buildings, and equipment. Loans for working capital are available on a limited basis. Financing programs are primarily for manufacturers and industrial enterprises, although there are a limited number for retail and service companies.

Existing Employers

The region is fortunate to have a diverse portfolio of employment options in industries such as healthcare, higher education, textiles, food and pet products, and senior care. For more info about the Major Employers in each County, visit this page.
